WFMW – Making Pumpkin Decorations

Nov 18th, 2008 by Shalee

Okay, the last YouTube didn’t turn out so badly, so I thought I would try it again.

Please note how easy the crafts are.  I know you all want to mistake me for Martha, but really, I must set the record straight.

I can’t sew.
Flowers never look arranged after I’ve touched them.
Thinking of planning a wedding gives me the heebee jeebees.

There. Now you all know that I will never have my own tv show… which is just as well because knowing me, I wouldn’t watch it anyway.

And now, back to the point.

These pumpkins are so stinkin’ easy to make that a 5 year old could make them. Which is a lovely thing when you’re a mom at her wits end at the end of the first day of Thanksgiving Break.

Here’s what you need:

  • orange-ish material (cut in big squares)
  • toilet paper
  • some kind of made up topper to be a stem

That’s it. If you’ve got some extra materials lying around and some inclination to make something, I say go for it!  (Oh, and don’t be like me and make it really tight.  Loosen it up some.  I was too lazy to reshoot it other wise I would show you what I mean.  And there’s more honesty for ya.)

Head on over to Shannon’s place for some real tips on how to improve your life.  (It’s either that or watch the pumpkin tutorial again.  Yeah, that’s what I thought.  I’ll see you later then.)

Cute, cute, Shalee. Martha would never come up with something that simple. She’d figure out a way to complicate it, I’m sure.

These are so cute, and they are really easy as pie. Thanks for sharing the idea as a WFMW. I may just have to do some for a Thanksgiving decoration. Bet I could maybe even find some clearance fabrics at the store now.
I enjoy seeing the WFMW each week. It’s a good opportunity to see new blogs. Have a great day!

Oh, I think you’d make a lovely tv hostess. I’m stealing all your ideas.

Now that’s my kind of craft. I break out in hives from sewing. They are too cute. Your going to turn into the next Youtube star.

You’re just the cutest thing ever! I love watching you on the video. What a neat craft idea. Did you come up with it all by yourself?

You made another video… how did I miss that?

I am so glad you are still teaching us about cute Thanksgiving crafts instead of jumping ahead to Christmas ones. I love fall! Thanks!
