C Is For Cookie

Nov 2nd, 2011 by Shalee

Did you know that today, November 2nd, is Cookie Monster’s birthday?

Me neither, but I think it makes a great excuse to pull off one of those “mom” moments and bake cookies for dessert tonight.  Yeah, I know I said I shouldn’t due to the massive amount of candy around the house, but really, I just want a cookie.  If it takes celebrating the birthday of a favorite Muppet to do so, well alrighty then!

Now the big question will be decide which cookie recipe to make!

Do I go for the traditional Nestlé Toll House Cookie or should I have one of my favorite cc cookie recipes that I discovered on Barb’s blog long ago?

Should I sacrifice some of my beloved Milk Duds to create these yummy treats?

Maybe I could get a head start on perfecting traditional sugar cookies…

Or I could make one of my favorite cookies – soft and chewy Molasses Cookies!

Whichever one I pick, you can be sure that we’ll be feasting around the dinner table tonight, enjoying our memories of Cookie Monster.

(Why does this video remind me of my dad?!)

Happy Birthday, Cookie Monster!!

Okay so what did you make? I’ve been craving my mom’s honey cookies. I may have to break down and dig out a recipe.

Oh! We had chocolate chip oatmeal cookies. They were delicious and perfect for the celebration. Mostly, the kids were really surprised when I told them that we were celebrating a birthday that day! It’s not often (enough) that I pull stunts like that. They loved the cookies, even The Boy who’s not an oatmeal fan. I discovered the trick is to have VERY small oatmeal pieces. Running it through the processor to make them fine is an excellent way to sneak in more fiber. :)
