Guess What They Have Here!

Mar 12th, 2010 by Shalee

Go on… guess!

You’ll never guess, so I’ll just tell you.

GRASS!!!  There’s grass under all that snow!  Did you know that?  I thought that there was just more snow under all this snow…  It’s been unseasonably warm (according to those in the know), so we have lots and lots of grass visible in all directions.

And you know what else?

Go on… guess!

Never mind.  I’ll just tell you.  Some of that grass is GREEN!  So not only do we have grass, but it’s going to look like SPRING some day!!!  Oh, I can’t tell you what joy is filling my heart to see some things that I’ve been wanting to see.

Life is still chaotic and busy on all sides here, but it’s a good kind of busy, if you know what I mean.  Oh and the kids are finally getting in for dental visits.  It’s been too long for them.  The Girl is thrilled that an orthodontist visit is in her future.  She is super excited at the thought of getting braces.  She must really not like her crooked teeth…

This week at church, I had two people tell me that they’ve enjoyed watching me sign and that they want to learn too.  I told them that I would share what I know, but I’m still struggling with understanding the signs when I’m the watcher.  It makes me want to find my book and practice a whole lot more now that I know others are watching!

Still on the house hunt here.  Why oh why can’t someone sell a normal house around here?!  I’m not giving up, and more and more houses are coming onto the market, so that’s a plus.  I know that God has our place picked out.  I just need to be patient and wait for him to show it to me.  I just wish he’d hurry up already!

Happy Friday to you!  What’s on your agenda this weekend?

And you know what else? All those flat, gray, treeless spots will soon be LAKES. And they will sparkle blue and the lilacs will bloom and the trees will bud and we will enjoy a thousand shades of green.

No one appreciates spring as much as someone who’s lived through a Northern winter.

(I’m not sure this will help, but some suburbs are just more split-level than others. Do you have some other choices? Maybe look further out? I know it doesn’t always make sense to have a killer commute. But … just a thought. I hate split-levels too! As a result, there are some places in this city I just wouldn’t want to live.)

I was just going to ask what part of the metro you are looking in. We seem to have the option of split entry (which we have and would like to get rid of) or ramblers. The occasional 2 story shows up.

What web site do you use? I like http://www.edina.com because you can set so many features and search by the map.

Good luck! Just wait until everything is green. It really is lovely!

I agree with Kelly… after a nice northern winter, when spring comes you just feel like snoopy with happy feet. And then in summer when it is stifling hot you take a deep breath and know that snowflakes will soon be cooling your face again. And autumn is so so beautiful in the north. But spring… oh there is nothing like a lovely spring after a really cold winter. My gracious what an awesome God we have !!! Enjoy!

I am planning on doing a whole awful lot of nothing useful this weekend, and onto the next week! It’s Spring Break as of 30 minutes ago!! WooHoo!!

    Grass? Really? Who knew? :vD

That is so cool that you sign in church. What a neat ministry you have.

Shalee, I made a new DVD of signs. Just finished teaching a sign class at OP and these are the signs I taught, including many seen frequently in church songs. Let me know if you want a copy. It’s yours for the low, introductory price of $19.95 or two for $50. Or free.

I have to say that God did have our house picked out. Our budget was small, our needs were fairly specific and he did it perfectly. It will happen. It may even have green grass too. :)

LOL green grass is always good. ;) last weekend was spent at my dad’s (whilst working on some marketing material). This weekend is putting the presentation into use at a living history trade show. :)
