God Is Good All The Time, Even When I Don’t Realize It

Well, what a weekend it has been for us. We thoroughly enjoyed Dave & Buster’s as a “we’re homeless” celebration. (Thanks Lynnette for the D&B card! The kids played lots of games with it!) The food was excellent and the kids were thrilled to let lose for a while. (And I’m so excited about the junk the kids brought home from their tickets winnings… Great. More things to give/throw away over time. I bet we spent just as much time waiting for the kids to pick out things than we did winning all those tickets…)
Saturday we met with the movers who moved all of our things into a storage unit. Mr. Right has been nothing but impressed with the entire relocation process. The packers were very careful with our things, the movers were just as cautious and protective and all people were pleasant during both processes. Oh, and they made everything fit into our storage area. There’s almost a 3×3 foot of space available and that’s it! It’s packed to the ceiling all the way back! Can’t get to any of it, but it’s nice to have it out of our SOLD HOUSE! (Yep, I’m still pretty giddy about that.) :)
My toe was either not broke or else it’s healing fast. (Maybe I’m part Wolverine? My hair definitely indicates that I am on most days…) Anyway, I don’t feel any pain in it and when I went on the treadmill (I’ll not touch that stupid elliptical machine again!), I was able to run with nary a hitch, well if you don’t count the fact that I felt as if I was going to die after 3 minutes of exercise, that is.
Sunday after church, we went to my boss’ house for lunch and to watch the US vs Canada hockey game. What an exciting game!!! The only other game I saw before this one was the US vs Norway game, and you know what a blowout that was! (6-1 US in case you didn’t actually know and don’t want to feel out of the loop.) I have a feeling that all other hockey games will pale in excitement now… My boss just kept saying “as long as we don’t get blown out of the water like I fear will happen, I’ll be happy.”
Don’t ever listen to someone when they make that kind of remark. It really means, “I hope we kick some serious tushy today! If we don’t, I’m going to stew at what should have been…” :)
All in all, I think it was an awesome game. Both sides played well and hard, and US stayed in there, holding their own in a game where most of the world expected them to be blown out of the rink in the first period. And though US didn’t want Silver, they should be ecstatic with the results! 39 other teams didn’t place at all and US proved that they could play well with several non-NHL players against at country whose teams was comprised of mostly professionals. Plus, they all get to say that they are Olympic winners!
Yesterday was a day that would make satan feel right at home. Swamped and boggled down, I had several “I want to cry under all this stress” moments. I went into my boss with a list of things that I needed to accomplish and said, “I can’t do this all! It’s too much for one person to handle!” He handled my fear calmly, focusing me on the key points to be accomplished and taking on some of the responsibilities to ease my burden. See, don’t I have a good boss, even if he’s the one who gave it all to me in the first place? :) I’ll make it; I just hate the feeling of possible failure looming in the distance.
I came home tired and slightly depressed. I still had to handle all the things to do at home. God, in his caring way, finagled another blessing for me. About 4 PM, Mr. Right called and said that his work had food left over from a working meeting and he was bringing it home for us. Woo hoo! Free food and I don’t have to cook or do dishes!
I tell you what, that God is good to me all the time… even when I’m not expecting Him to be. You’d think I would have learned that by now.

LOL. Sometimes having all professionals is not necessarily the greatest thing. Lots of egos to work around as evidenced by the fact that it took them how many games to start playing as a team rather than a bunch of individual hot shots. The game was awesome and was totally a matter of national pride. Canada had to redeem itself after the last Olympics. I mean, it is our national sport and all. LOL. I can’t imagine the pressure that was on those guys to win that game. I thought the US goalie was incredible and the whole team put up a great fight right to the end.
Glad your toe is back to working order.
