Thems the Breaks

Feb 24th, 2010 by Shalee

Well, I broke my toe.  At least I think I did.

I asked The Girl to look at my feet and to tell me what she saw.  After comparing my right with my left, she said, “Hmmm.  Well your second toe on the right foot looks a little purple and it’s bent differently.”

So with that, I’m going to assume that I broke it.  The pain is a bit of an indicator too.  I’ve taped that toe to the one next to it and call it good since I know that a doctor wouldn’t do it any differently from me.  Well he would do the same and then charge me an arm and a leg.  Since I’m already down a toe, I didn’t think I could afford it.

I knew that exercising would be hazardous to my health…  stupid elliptical machine.  The really sad thing is that I can’t tell you what I did to have my toe going along well and then suddenly my right foot was being crushed inbetween the moving arm pieces.  I heard the crunch and felt the pain before I knew to back out of the painful situation.

Anhh.  I’m so short that no one would notice my hobbling anyway.  :)

On a positive note, we were FedExed all the paperwork on our part for the house.  Woo hoo!  Never have I been so at ease to watch tens of thousands of dollars leave our account.  It’s just money.  At least that’s what I keep telling myself.

The negative of that note was that though I received all the paperwork on Friday last week, I forgot about it until today.  Now I’m going to have to rush to get it all done and hope that Mr. Right gets back from dealing with packers and movers in time so that I can send the money and paperwork back to the title company.

Sometimes my forgetfulness surprises even myself.  You would think that I would have remembered something as pertinent as items that deal with directly selling our house!

Bah!

Oh, my brother Ron had to have an emergency gallbladder removal surgery.  Poor man… first his appendix, now his gallbladder.  Suddenly, my two c-sections appear downright simple in comparison to his threatening operations.  I sure hope that he recovers fast enough to progress towards going home later today…  If you would pray about him healing fast so that he could go home, I’d appreciate it!

Work is still work, except with a little less stress.  Still love my boss and want to impress him, still think I’m smart enough to do it, but the biggest obstacle I’m dealing with is that I have to make a lot of calls… have I ever told you how much I don’t like being on the phone?  It’s so stupid that I have this little rush every time I pick up the handset to talk to a stranger!  I’ve taken to praying that God will give me courage each time I make a dial.  It’s such a silly thing to worry about really.  I know that it will get easier in time, but until then, I’m hopeful that God will ease that discomfort because really, it’s not like I’m ever going to meet these people!

This past Sunday, a couple from church invited us over for lunch.  It was a blast!  They also have a couple of kids our age, plus we actually went to college with the husband.  It’s neat to see how God orchestrates things so that little connections can still be made here and there.  Too bad Mr. Right was gone.  He missed some good food and spectacular conversation.  He’ll get his chance later when I reciprocate  with a dinner and game night!  (Yes!  We found some fellow game players!)

Hope all is well with you!

That broken toe is going to put a crimp in your house shopping.

(I’m just glad it happened on the treadmill and not outside on the ice. It’s so slick in some patches right now. We can’t have Minnesota beating you up your first winter with us.)

This is a first my dear Shabay. YOU!!! Bashful on a phone??? You never met a stranger when you were a child and I doubt that has changed a whole lot. But we still love you… Ron is still in the hospital, they missed the vein in his arm and everything went into his muscle tissue and his arm is all swollen. They can’t find the vein in his other arm. He doesn’t seem to be able to pass anything through his intestines, so they have put a tube from his nose into his stomach to drain the bile. He is not a happy camper. They are going to hold him a few more days. Also the Dr. was scheduled for surgeries today so he has not been able to get up to see him yet. More as it develops.
    Love,
    Dad

Girl what are you doing to yourself? That sounds darn right scary how you broke your toe. Hope it heals quickly. Saying a prayer for your brother.

I have a hard time thinking of you worrying about talking in any way, shape or form. LOL. I have great confidence that you can handle that aspect of your job. :v)

I’m so happy for you that you’ve already made family friends.

They say that a break heals more quickly than a sprain, so you could *hope* for it to be broken. :) Hope it heals quickly and that your brother gets through all of his issues. I’ve been having gallbladder attacks lately, so I UNDERSTAND how awful it is! Prayers for swift healing for both of you!
