Tidbits

Jan 15th, 2010 by Shalee

Since I’m swamped at work, I’m going to just share some things that are going on with us.  It’s all a big hodge podge of stuff.

  1. We’re still praying about our house to sell.  We listed with an agent again, knowing that we’re going to take it in the keister.  I keep telling myself that “it’s just money and God is better support than anything here on earth.”
  2. God keeps emphasizing that last point by having me read where I’m at in the Bible.  Those Israelites left everything they knew for a new promise land and God took care of them every step of the way.  I see Minneapolis as our new promise land.  God will worry about the house back in KC and I’ll focus on what I can do to serve Him in our new city.  (And I’ll do my darnedest not to frustrate God by grumbling, complaining or turning from Him!)
  3. I met with an amazing email/blogging friend last weekend for coffee. I absolutely loved her in person!  It’s amazing how God is continually supplying so many of our needs, not just the financial or physical ones.
  4. The kids are doing wonderfully sharing a room.  I had concerns about this situation, but for the most part, they’re being respectful and nice to each other and giving space when they need it.
  5. I love my new job!  It’s amazing how completely settled I feel already.  That’s a God thing as far as I’m concerned.  My boss has been pleasantly surprised at how much we have been able to accomplish so far too.  Whew!
  6. We did the most amazing thing this week!  We served at Feed My Starving Children, a non-profit organization that packages individual packets of food for children around the world.  We only worked about an hour with a bunch of other people (mostly a group of cub scouts ranging from 7-10 yo) and we packaged over 8,800 meals!  Imagine what could have been done if it were all competitive people who could easily reach the funnels to package the meals!  As soon as we were done, both my kids begged to do it again.  I think I know what we might be doing on Saturday…
  7. Can you believe that I still don’t have a library card?!  I’ve GOT to take care of that this weekend.
  8. We’re still searching for where God wants us to go to church.  We’re visiting a church in Woodbury on Sunday this week.  So far, I have a really strong feeling of placing a dual membership with a couple of churches, but I don’t know if it’s from God or if it’s that I don’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings.  :)   We’ll see.  All I know is that I’ve never felt that way about membership before!
  9. The Girl keeps whispering to me, “Reeeead moooooore sloooooowly.”  She loves being ahead of everyone.  I told her to take it up with God because when I wake early (as has happened all week), I read the Bible.  I’m at 1 Samuel now, only two books behind her.

That’s it for now.  What’s going on with you?  Give me the lowdown!

I feel like I could follow-up each of your points with a point of my own.

But I won’t. Because that would be a tad lengthy, for a comment.

But I will say this: I believe God has some great things in store for you here in the Frozen Tundra.

And by all means, go get a library card! I think the library system in Minnesota is one of the best in the country.

Sounds like you’re really settling into the Great White North. I’m using the long weekend to do get caught up on household chores, errands, and my to-do list for the reenactment group. Working on Girls Guide to Military Speak. LOL. Break time over.

I cannot believe you are in the tundra…and not in KC anymore!

I’m glad it’s all going so well and the many blessings God continues to provide. You deserve each and every one!

Stay warm and keep on writing…love to hear your stories!

We almost fell over when we found out what a chunk of change the realtor and his company would make for selling our house. Definitely something to think but sometimes that is just what one needs to do. Still praying about that house for you.

That’s an amazing amount of meals you guys put together. What a cool thing to do!
