Wow. It’s Monday Already.

Dec 7th, 2009 by Shalee

I looked back at my post and was amazed that I hadn’t posted since last Wednesday. Sheesh. Where does the time go?

Maybe it elopes with my missing socks or my sanity. I can’t find any of those of late. There’s probably a hidden truth in there somewhere, but I haven’t had enough coffee to figure that one out…

Let’s see…

Did you know that we had a showing on Friday? I just found out that we’re #4 on their list of favorites. I told their agent that we would be willing to pay their closing costs or lower the price by that amount. I’d rather take the hit now and be free from the house than to wait 6 months and still loose that amount and own the house!

Please pray that this incentive will move us up to their #1.

Did I tell you that we’re definitely moving to MN at the end of the year? I have a job offer that must start at that time, so we’ve decided to take the bird in hand rather than lose it to the house. I even told my work last Friday that January 1st will be my last official day. (I’m taking the week after Christmas off, so my last day in the office will be December 23rd.)  I can say with real enthusiasm that I’m looking forward to the move.  I’ve become email friends with some wonderful people along with the blogging friends I’ve known from there for years.  So looking forward to a coffee date with them in the near future…

I read Violets Are Blue by James Patterson. Can I just tell you know that he’s not all that he’s cracked up to be? I was so irritated by his writing style that I was glad to see the end page. This is the second book I’ve read by him, hoping that the first one was a fluke since it wasn’t part of a series.  Nope.  He’s has good ideas, but I didn’t like how juvenilely he presented them.

We had a full weekend here.

  • The kids went to a gingerbread house decorating party and I was able to hold the host’s new baby the entire time. I loved every moment of it!
  • After that, The Boy had a Christmas party at church.  He loved having all that play time with friends!
  • Later The Girl had a self-defense class that she wanted to attend. I’d better watch myself with her because now she knows how to get away from my tickling moves!! :)
  • That evening, much to my children’s chagrin, I commandeered the tv to watch the Nebraska-Texas game. Wow! It was exciting! Texas has to pull themselves together if they want any chance to beat Alabama. I think they have a fair chance at it, but they have to work through some issues to defeat them.

Sunday, The Boy went home with a friend, so I surprised The Girl by taking her to see The Blindside. What an incredibly awesome movie! We both loved it and deemed it worthy of being an owner. I didn’t even mind paying the price of tickets it was so good and I never like paying those prices, even the matinee prices…

When we went home, I wanted to watch some football while The Girl played her hour of computer time. However, my body had other plans because the next thing I know I was waking up. I guess a nap was really in order. :)

Lastly, we went to a Christmas concert at church so that we could listen to Reconciled. They were fabulous- all a capella music and all delightful to the ears! It was totally worth waiting for dinner to hear them, though The Girl’s stomach might disagree with me on that one. She was getting cranky due to hunger, but I couldn’t get dinner on the table before the concert started. Poor girl. I told her to think of it as fasting and every time she felt really hungry, she should pray about the house selling. Hey, I’ll use anything as a teachable moment. :)

That’s it for us. Things are good here, and I’ve only had a few moments of being overly concerned about all the unknowns with our lives. For the most part I am able to lay everything at the cross where it should be in the first place. Every now and then I find myself fingering the concerns, but God’s been good about slapping my hand playfully and wagging his finger at me.

No touchy!  Got it.

Anything exciting happening in your life?  Tell me all the details!

Minnesota will be happy to have you! Don’t judge us by January. Or February. It gets better, I promise.

I’m still praying (and reading), Shalee. I know the frustration of trying to sell a home and not understanding why it’s not moving. The ultimate answer? Only God knows, and it will sell (or He’ll come up with an alternate solution) in His perfect timing.

How exciting that you’re going to be reunited as a family come 2010, though. You call me once you get into town.
