It’s All Good

Nov 16th, 2009 by Shalee

We had a good weekend at the Diner.

The Girl had a sleepover with a friend which left time for The Boy and I to have a date. I wanted to take him swimming for a unique different use of our time. He requested that we watch a movie instead. (Should have gone with my first instinct for GI Joe. Major dud and a half.)

Since I didn’t pay to go swimming, I took the boy to the grand opening weekend for Dunkin’ Donuts.  When we pulled up, I had great reservations about my “brilliant” plan.  There was a line out the door to the end of the strip building and a loooooong line of cars waiting for the drive thru.  It actually wrapped around the block!  The wait wasn’t too long, maybe 25 minutes.  The surrounding people made the wait festive and fun.  I ordered a dozen because if I was going to wait that long, I wanted to have a leftovers.  :)   (The extras made it to breakfast the next day… barely.)

Much to The Girl’s mortification, the teen group at church came over to help rake our leaves.  (She said that they only helped “old people”.  I said they also help single moms and I qualify for the moment!)  Within an hour, our lawn was looking awesome, which made the call about someone wanting to see our house soon (next weekend) extra special.  (Yay God!)

Sunday, a funny thing happened.  After church, I was whipped from lack of sleep, so I laid in bed vegging on football and debating the ability to actually take a nap.  The doorbell rang in two quick successions, usually indicating that one of The Boy’s friends wanted to play.  Imagine my surprose when The Boy yelled, “Mom!  Someone wants to see the house… right now!”  I went down to find that indeed someone wanted to view it immediately.   Requesting 15 minutes to pick up the rooms, I showed the entire family a house.  I don’t think they liked it, but it was nice to know that God is still sending me signals that He’s still in control.  :)

I was so tired last night that I didn’t even watch Sunday Night Football, despite the fact that my Colts were playing!  Now that’s being tired!  However, I did pray to God that, though it wasn’t important in the whole scheme of things, He would allow the Colts to beat the Patriots.  :)

First thing I did when I awoke this morning – before bathroom trip or coffee even – was check out the results of the game.  I cannot tell you of my delight when I read that the Colts won!!!  Thanks God for that little gift!

So now that I have energy, I’m working on things that I need to get done at work.  Lots to do; lots to do.

I’m glad to have some energy back into me.  Maybe one day I can have enough to do this!

Have an awesome Monday!

We had our previous house on the market for quite a while. Our kids were, well, kids then, and messy. One day we had a surprise showing and what could I do but let them in? Guess what? They looked right past the mess and ended up being our buyers!
